Migrating to FeedBurner 3

This is long overdue.

Threw up a 301 from the old address at http://www.progprog.com/feeds/atom.xml to http://feeds.feedburner.com/progprog . Please change your addresses to the FeedBurner feed from now on.

hey tim, not sure if it's your fault or feedburners' but moving it over broke the entry id's so all the articles show up duped if your feedreader understands the 301.

Hey Adam, Hmm I've seen double posts happen with a couple of the feeds I'm subscribed to. Maybe it's the same problem. Going by web semantics the 301 indicates that users need to start using the new address anyway! I wonder if most feed readers out there are smart enough to make the switch automatically.

NetNewsWire did, any that actually follow the http spec would. But that could be less than you expect given most peoples understanding of http :) Is feedburner just a proxy to your feed or does it make it for you? As it would be the entry:id's being different that would've caused the dups. Unless you where using rss before and now atom.
